This skill set is designed for individuals responsible for maintaining food safety in hospitality, catering, or retail food environments. It is ideal for supervisors, managers, and food handlers who oversee the safe storage, preparation, display, and service of food.

Participants may include:


  • Food service staff seeking to become approved Food Safety Supervisors.

  • Café, restaurant, or catering managers responsible for implementing food safety programs.

  • Hospitality workers aiming to meet legislative and workplace food safety requirements.

  • Individuals looking to enhance their understanding of hygiene practices and compliance standards within commercial food operations.


This program is especially suited for those in roles where food handling and supervision are core responsibilities, ensuring safe and compliant practices across all stages of food service.


  • Minimum education standard 

    • Year 10 School certificate. 


    Age restrictions 

    • Students must be 18 years of age or above.  


    English requirements 

    • Completed the LLN assessment (or high school certificate) 


  • Student must complete the below units: 


    • SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety 

    • SITXFSA006 Participate in safe food handling practices 


  • Assessment Methods: 


    Assessment methods used for this qualification will provide a range of ways for individuals to demonstrate that they have met the required outcomes including: 

    • Written questions 

    • Observation 

    • Practical tasks signed off by supervisor 

    • Third-party verification 

    • Workplace tasks 


  • The following training equipment and materials are required for delivery of this program: 

     

    • Sessions plans for each class 

    • PowerPoint Presentations for each unit  

    • Learner’s resource  

    • Internet and Wifi 

    • Must be working in the food industry. 


  • All students will be provided with a range of learning support options and resources to help them achieve competency. This may include: 


    • Mentoring from trainers. 

    • Additional virtual classes, tutorials and workshops. 

    • Online support and exercises for some courses. 

    • Computer and technology support. 

    • Referral to external support services
